            Ansicht von Westen.Schloss Nordkirchen wird gerne als "Das westfälische Versailles" bezeichnet. Mag sein, dass dieser Vergleich vielleicht ein winziges bisschen übertrieben ist. Aber die architektonische Qualität des westfälischen Barockschlosses und vor allem seine Einbettung in eine herrliche Park- und Gartenanlage vermitteln in jedem Fall ein herausragendes ästhetisches Erlebnis.Das barocke Anwesen entstand in den Jahren 1703 bis 1734 für den damaligen Fürstbischof von Münster, Friedrich Christian von Plettenberg. Die Architekten des streng symmetrisch gestalteten Schlosses waren Gottfried Laurenz Pictorius und Johann Conrad Schlaun. Heute beherbergen die drei Flügel des Bauwerks die Hochschule für Finanzen Nordrhein-Westfalen. Das Wasserschloss ist umgeben von einem weitläufigen Park, der alleine schon einen Ausflug lohnt.

Nordkirchen Castle is often referred to as "The Versailles of Westphalia". This comparison may be a tiny bit exaggerated. But the architectural quality of the Westphalian baroque castle and, above all, its setting in a magnificent park and gardens provide an outstanding aesthetic experience. The baroque property was built between 1703 and 1734 for the then Prince-Bishop of Münster, Friedrich Christian von Plettenberg. The architects of the strictly symmetrical castle were Gottfried Laurenz Pictorius and Johann Conrad Schlaun. Today, the three wings of the building house the North Rhine-Westphalia University of Finance. The moated castle is surrounded by a spacious park, which is worth a trip in itself.
