The Piggery (1910)

...In Barberton, Ohio USA.

This town was founded by Ohio Columbus Barber. "The Piggery" was built in 1910 and used to raise and house Berkshire pigs. It's over 300 feet long. After Barber died in 1920 this building was taken over by a unit of the US Cavalry. "The Piggery" is one of eight buildings remaining of the original thirty-five. The other twenty-seven buildings fell prey to the developer's bulldozer.

O. C. Barber's dream was to build an experimental "farm of the future".

All of the farm's buildings were designed using the French Renaissance Revival architectural style---red brick, white concrete block, royal blue trim and red terra cotta tile roofs.
