Fredericksted, St. Croix, USVI

            In January 2020, we visited St. Croix of the US Virgin Islands (USVI).

We docked in Frederiksted.  This is a view of Fort Frederiksted and the Eliza James-McBean Clock Tower from the pier.

In 1751, the area for the fort and town was cleared and surveyed. The town was named Frederiksted in honor of the Danish King Frederik V.

Fort Frederiksted, also named after King Frederik V, was begun in May 1752 and finished in 1760.

There is no way a pirate approaching the island could have missed that bright red!

The Eliza James-McBean Clock Tower was built in 2005.
