WEEK 6 – Spin Street, Set II

I described the CD department as an alcove a bit earlier, but the department just in front of it takes the cake in truly embodying that term! Indeed, just beyond the CDs themselves was Spin Street’s selection of their larger predecessors – records – in a fully separated room dubbed “the vinyl vault.” As if it wasn’t enough of a step back in time to be in a dedicated media store selling DVDs and CDs, Spin Street had this punch of nostalgia going for them also! And in fact, this was one of their biggest draws, and a main contributor to their popularity. The recent resurgence of the popularity of vinyl itself surely helped matters as well.

I personally didn’t spend any time in the “vinyl vault” myself, because we don’t own a phonograph (that’s a record player, for you whippersnappers :P ). But l_dawg2000, who does, spent quite a bit of time browsing this department on his visits to Spin Street, haha! And for photos he took on those visits, be sure to check out his album here.
