Commentary.

Early on a glorious summer’s day
a finger of cloud stubbornly remains,
as if God’s hand were blessing this place.
And blessed it is.
The Great Glen is like a geological connector,
created by many cataclysmic lateral crustal movements
between 400 million and a billion years ago.
It is as if the glorious, grand, gigantic sea-loch fjords
of the West Coast were sneaked north-eastwards
sixty to a hundred miles.
Geologically this is not far from the truth.
Aesthetically, this “strike-slip fault” has created
features of epic proportions and scenery to savour.
