            In the summer of 2023 we wanted to return to Kobylany after our first visit in 2019. In the time since our first visit, the situation has changed completely. Russia has attacked Ukraine. In addition to the hot war, an economic war has begun. In Kobylany, a Polish border station with Belarus, we could see the consequences.
Traffic, much of it transit traffic from China, has dropped dramatically. We saw no trains crossing the border all day. The other aspect was that it became unwelcome to photograph railways in Poland. At the time there was no law against photographing railways, but we had already spent hours being checked by the police for photographing railways near the border.
So much for the background. The silence of the day ended in the evening. M62-1241 was started, a freight train from Belarus arrived and even the switcher locomotives started working. Under the protection of the approaching dusk we could watch and photograph this performance.
