Western Sandpiper II

            A couple of record shots of The Snettisham Western Sandpiper this morning. An extremely rare visitor to the UK.
Kicking myself I couldn't get my lens on it a little earlier (before the heat-haze arrived) when it showed high on the shingle bank before being flushed with the flock of Dunlin and Sanderling it was with. But hey, it's happened to us all and grateful to have been able to get it relatively close here.
It's a long way from both Eastern Siberia and Alaska, where it would normally breed, for such a tiny little creature. In the winter they will migrate to both coasts of North America and South America and also The Caribbean in winter.
