I have tried my best to resist a Leica for years, and now I can say the resistance was in vein. I still consider Leicas to be over-priced; however, it is much easier to justify spending a couple of hundred dollars to service or repair a Leica than any film camera I had owned, and a film camera does need service or repair from time to time. M3 has been considered by many Leica fans as the best Leica camera ever made. Of course, many other Leica fans would disagree, but one thing is for certain - no other Leica has M3's 0.91x viewfinder. The high magnification, combined with Leica's standard 68.5 mm base length, makes M3 the most accurate rangefinder you can find. M3 also has the largest rangefinder patch (a clear one as well). One caveat is if you use a 35mm or wider lens you need an external viewfinder because M3 only supports 50/90/135 frame lines. As a pure mechanical camera, M3 has no meter. During most of the day time, I can go by with Sunny 16, but as the sun starts to set, I usually need a meter (on my phone). This surely slows me down a bit, but shooting film is a slow process to start with anyway. A few words on the Topcor lens: it has a better build and overall better performance than the famous Summicron V2 (Rigid or DR), and of course, way cheaper.
