Tissington Methodist Chapel (1). Derbyshire

            The Methodist Chapel (1955), Tissington, Derbyshire Peak Disctrict.
This is a small Methodist Chapel on the outskirts Tissington village. Its open to have a look around. The current building dates from 1955 but there has been a chapel on this site since 1866. The then primititve Methodist Chapel was built by the Wright family of Tissinf
gton who was a local preacher. The land it was built on belonged not to the Fitzherberts, but to George Johnson of Tissington. 

From 1956 - 1961 it was Sunday School started by Percy Titterton. They met on Sunday afternoons to avoid clashing with the Anglican Sunday School and up to 12 children attended aged 5 - 11 years. The Sunday School had to close in 1961, as the Titterton family left Tissington.   

In August 2016 they celebrated their 150th anniversary. The chapel is also available for weddings and can hold up to 70 people.

Tissington is a perfect picture book village with beautiful cottages built around a noble old hall, fine church and duck pond. Home of the FitzHerbert family for over 400 years and it is their splendid Jacobean residence at the Hall. There is no pub in the village. Tissington is known to be one of the prettiest villages in the Peak District. The population "Tissington and Lea Hall" at the 2011 census was 159. 

The Tissington Trail for walkers, cyclists and horse riders passes by the village, where there is parking and a picnic site. The Limestone Way footpath goes through Tissington and there are good routes all around for ramblers. The trail is 13 miles in total and should take an average walker 2.5 hours with stops along the way.
