Eine Zauberwelt en miniature - A magical world in miniature - explored

            In einem fränkischen Naturschutzgebiet fand ich kleinere Ansammlungen der winzig kleinen Echten Becherflechte (Cladonia pyxidata) mit trompetenartiger Struktur auf kargem Kalkschotterboden mit nur spärlicher Moosvegetation.
Bekannt ist die enorme Überlebensfähigkeit mancher Flechten, die sogar einige Wochen Aufenthalt im Weltraum (!) überleben können.

In a Franconian nature reserve, I found small clusters of the tiny pebbled cup lichen (Cladonia pyxidata) with a trumpet-like structure on barren limestone gravel soil with only sparse moss vegetation.
The enormous survivability of some lichens is well known; they can even survive a few weeks in space (!).
