(EN) The former Transport Ministry was another good reason to come to Tbilisi. I’ve had seen a photo of it on flickr, but no else information about it, but I supposed it would be quite easy to find once in Tbilisi. It was not. Fortunately, it’s not located in the historical center. Furthermore, nobody could tell me where it is. I asked a lot and finally, a employee in a travel agency on Tavisuplebis Square took some time, phoned around and found out the address and how to get there. It’s not central at all, it required a long metro ride combined with a marshrutka ride afterwards, but it was worth the trip.
I can’t tell what it’s used for now, it looks rather run down and disused, however it’s still guarded (the guards denied me the entry).
If somebody wants to visit it as well, here’s the address: Maršal Gelovanis Kuča (მარშალ გელოვანის ქუჩა) 7, close to Dighmis Trasa (a more important road). To get there, take the metro until Politehnuri station, from there further on with any marshrutka serving Dighmis Trasa. Another possibility is the bus No. 91 leaving next to Rustavelis metro station which leads to the neighbourhood of that building.

(DE) Das ehemalige Transportministerium war auch ein guter Grund, nach Tbilisi zu kommen. Ich hatte bisher nur ein Foto davon im Flickr gesehen und sonst keine Informationen darüber im Internet gefunden, aber ich ging mal davon aus, dass dies in Tbilisi dann doch recht einfach aufzufinden wäre. Dies war aber überhaupt nicht so: Im Stadtzentrum war es nicht, und niemand wusste, wo sonst. Nach vielem Herumfragen an verschiedenen Orten nahm sich eine Reisebüro-Angestellte am Tavisuplebis Moedani etwas Zeit, telefonierte herum und fand es dann tatsächlich heraus. Das Gebäude ist ziemlich ausserhalb und erfordert eine längere Metro- und Maršrutkafahrt, aber es ist die Reise auf jeden Fall wert. Was sich heute drin befindet, konnte ich leider nicht in Erfahrung bringen, es sieht jedenfalls recht heruntergekommen und unbenutzt aus, ist aber immer noch bewacht.
Für Nachahmungstäter hier die Adresse: Maršal Gelovanis Kuča (მარშალ გელოვანის ქუჩა) 7, Nähe Dighmis Trasa (grössere Strasse). Man kommt dorthin mit der Metro bis Politehnuri, von dort aus mit allen Maršrutki, welche die Dighmis Trasa hinunterfahren. Alternativ fährt von der Rustavelis-Metrostation der Bus 91 in die Nähe.
