A Wind- and Water Swept Canyon - a photo on Flickriver

            Antelope Canyon, near Page, Arizona, is a slot canyon carved out by the same waters that flow into the Colorado River and carved the Grand Canyon.  The walls of the canyon have, over many years, been carved into what looks like fluid rock. The flood waters from rain above travel through cracks and caverns in the sandstone until it builds up significant speed near Antelope Canyon. As the flood water rushes and spirals through the canyon rock formations, it continually sands and reshapes the walls into fine masterpieces. This water eventually makes its way to Lake Powell and ultimately the Colorado River.
