Black-Necked Stilt At Horicon Marsh, Wisconsin, USA

            These are the noisiest birds.  They never seem to stop calling out, whether flying or wading.  On this day, they were flying back and forth over the trail I was on and squawking loudly.

For the first time, I saw their young of the year.  The immature stilts were out on a tiny mud island, searching for food.  Maybe this is why the adults were kicking up such a commotion.
