The Ffestiniog Railway Society Annual General Meeting Weekend 2024 commenced late Friday afternoon on May 03.

Visiting locomotives LILY and CHUQUITANTA crossed the train with a freight train. On board the train was a 1923 Ford Model T pick up truck. LILY and CHUQUITANTA were joined by former Dinorwig Quarry loco FELINHELI whilst UPNOR CASTLE brought in the slate train and stabled it in Platform 1.

There were around three hours of shunting and movements around harbour station whilst members checked - in for the weekend events and enjoyed a curry night a Spooner's Bar.

CHUQITANTATA is an 0-4-0 locomotive was built by Couillet, of Belgium in 1885. It was supplied to Enrique Ayulo & Cie of Peru for the Rodriguez sugar cane plantation.

The loco was named CHUQITANTATA due to its small size and weight of only 3.5 tonnes. It was brought to the UK from Peru for full restoration in 2004 which was completed in 2016

The locomotive is usually based at the Richmond Light Railway in Kent.

CHUQITANTATA has visited the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways twice before in recent years for Quirks & Curiosities II in 2017 and again for the Victorian Weekend in 2019.

LILY is a Decauville 0-4-0T, works No. 648 built in 1912 and is also usually based at the Richmond Light Railway in Kent. It spent most of its working life working on a mine railway in Greece.

FELINHELI is an ex-Dinorwic Quarry Hunslet 0-4-0ST; the first of the Hunslet "Alice" class of locos she was built in 1886 (Works No. 409). It had been based at the Launceston Steam Railway in Cornwall until 1918 though has visited the FWHR on a number of occasions. She moved to the FWHR in 2018 to facilitate an overhaul and reboilering and was returned to steam in March 2024.

As part of the rebuild she was fitted with new nameplates which reflect the correct spelling of the village of Felinheli after which she is named, it having in its earlier life been anglicised to VELINHELI. A single f in Welsh is sounded as a v.
