Formed Fibre Glass: Red, Orange

            One Hamilton North End industrial sector business produces large fibre glass formed sections in a range of very bright colours. I believe these are parts of pool slides or possibly large water park slides or tunnels or, perhaps, playground equipment. I managed to pass by during a cold but very sunny (hard light) day and stopped to capture a number of colourful abstract images here. - JW

Tech Details:

Taken using a hand-held Olympus OM-D EM-5 fitted with an Olympus M Zuiko 14-42mm 1:3.5-5.6 II lens set to 31mm, Program mode mode, Auto WB, Matrix metering, ISO200 (Auto ISO), f/11.0, 1/640 sec with an EV-0.30 exposure bias to keep from blowing out highlights. PP in free Open Source RAWTherapee from Olympus RAW/ORF source image: set final image size to be 9000px wide, crop slightly to a 3:2 format, slightly boost Contrast and Chromaticity in L-A-B mode, very slightly boost Vibrance, sharpen (edges only), save. PP in free Open Source GIMP: use the colour balance tool to get rid of an unpleasant magenta colour cast, adjust the tone curve to bring the black point (bottom left ) to the right to meet the foot of the data and then pull up the curve at approximately 20% in from the right to brighten the colours, sharpen, save, scale image to 6000px wide, sharpen, save, add fine black-and-white frame, add bar and text on left, save, scale image to 3000 wide for posting online, sharpen, save.
