Mianzimu - a photo on Flickriver

Mianzimu

            Mianzimu is a summit in the Meili Snow Mountains (Meili Xue Shan) of Yunnan province, China. During an attempt to climb nearby Kawagarbo, one of the most sacred mountains for Tibetan Buddhism, a nighttime avalanche killed all seventeen members of an expedition in one of the most deadly mountaineering accidents in history. Ten years later laws banning all future climbing attempts on cultural and religious grounds were passed in 2001. All major peaks in the Meili Snow Mountains remain unclimbed. I used DeNoise AI to clean up this file from the early days of digital photography and my inexplicable settings did not help either.
