Boris Adamovitch - a photo on Flickriver

            This is in one of the cemeteries in Richmond NH, about a mile from my house.  I've walked, biked, and driven by it thousands of times.  Boris's marker is big, unique, and eye-catching.  About a week prior to making this image, I noticed the single splash of red leaves right behind the cross, and instead of stopping the first time (there's a lesson there...ALWAYS stop when you see something good), I went on to my appointment.  Of course the light was wrong by the time I came home.  That happened twice - double shame on me - but I committed to getting the image.  That was followed by a week of gray mornings, so when I got up on this Sunday, there was fog, and there was a bit of sun.  Off down the road I zipped.  I missed the perfect sunlit shot, and the color in the red tree was already fading off.  Sadly, I'll not have another fall in Richmond to try and catch a better version, but I had a beautiful quiet hour in the cemetery, shooting not only Boris, but dew in the spider webs, the splashy hydrangea trees that dot the grounds, and sun rays filtering through the fog and trees.   Two morals to this story.  1) ALWAYS stop!  and 2) It's ALWAYS worth going out and taking time.
