            Five weeks after entering traffic an almost new 43190 stands in the platform at Bristol Temple Meads with an early morning Cross Country service, 5th June 1982.

Locomotive History
43190 was built at Crewe Works and entered traffic at the end of April 1982 as part of set 253054. It was one of a batch of thirty four power cars built to power seventeen, seven car HST sets for Cross Country services. Around 1993 43190 was dedicated to the Great Western fleet of HST power cars and fitted with the Great Western APT system. 43190 entered Brush, Loughborough in October 2007 to be “re-engineered” and has had its original Paxman Valenta engine replaced by a MTU unit. It re-entered service on Great Western Main Line services for First Great Western in January 2008.
