            Northern 144010 and 144008 cross at Rotherham Central, 16th July 2019.

Unit History
144002 and 144008 are examples of the final design of “Pacer” DMU with Alexander bus bodywork and BREL underframes. Twenty-three Class 144 units were built in 1987 for services in West Yorkshire. The units have a maximum speed of 75 mph. The first thirteen sets of the class (144001-013) are two car units. The remaining ten sets (144014-023) are three car units, although all were originally built as two car units, the centre vehicle being added later. It would appear that some of this class of Pacer will survive post the end of the planned Pacer operation at the end of 2019 on South Yorkshire duties due to late delivery of the replacement stock.
