            My “summer holiday” in 1978 was a First Class Eastern Region Railrover and I had stocked up with 35mm transparency film for the week ahead. Or so I thought because when it came to process the week’s photography I realised that one roll of film was in fact a Kodak colour print film!!! Here is a shot from that roll of colour print film taken early in the morning at Manors station just north of Newcastle of Gateshead allocated 37065 heading north with a rake of unfitted coal hoppers, 31st May 1978. 

Locomotive History
37065 was built as D6765 by English Electric at the Vulcan Foundry and entered traffic in November 1962 allocated to Thornaby MPD. It would spend the next twenty years in the North East allocated to either Thornaby or Gateshead until transferred to Healey Mills in May 1983. It was transferred back to Thornaby in September 1984 followed by transfer to Tinsley in March 1986, Bristol in March 1993, Toton in March 1994, Eastleigh in September 1997, Toton in November 1998 and Old Oak Common in November 2000. It was officially stored at Toton in January 2004 and broken up by EMR Kingsbury during December 2007.
