Peak foliage color in capital city of Montpelier and the Stowe Mountain area region of Vermont in 2016 took place on the weekend of October 8th 2016 

Foliage color generally starts to change in the higher, cooler areas of the Green Mountains, spreading down into the Lake Champlain Valley and Connecticut River Valley, and moving from north to south across the state.
