Since the day I got my 500 PF lens delivered, I have had a renewed interest in going for our evening walks. My main reason is to shoot some of the most interesting birds that I get to see in the fields around our home. We have seen blue grosbeaks, eastern bluebirds, mockingbirds, robins, and flycatchers. There is a part of the trail where I see mockingbirds. They seemed to be hanging about a particular tree, making a ruckus when anyone walks nearby. One day I figured out why, hidden in the foliage of the tree, they had a nest full of chicks.

The nest was at eye level but well hidden. Thanks to the effective focal length of 750mm, I was able to get some shot of the nest without disturbing the birds. I took this photo a while ago, and since then every once in a while, I take this route to see if the nest is still there. I am happy to report that the chicks have grown big and left the nest. It was amazing to see birds raising the chicks, even if they are rather common birds.
