Polar stratospheric clouds, also known as nacreous clouds, are clouds in the winter polar stratosphere at extreme altitudes. The last time they were visible in The Netherlands was in 1996.

When I left my home, I was just heading for some new spots were I though I might take some nice photos. Although the spot itself was not that great, suddenly the sky decided to perform a theater of colours! The sky really looked like in the photo, so no purple filters or whatsoever. It was one of the best sunsets I have ever witnessed!
