00 NYC Loew's Mayfair

            Former Loew's Mayfair theatre opened in 1910 as the Columbia Theatre. It seated 2300 in 1930 as the RKO Mayfair when it had an art deco makeover by Thomas W Lamb, later renamed DeMille. It was tripled as the Mark 1-3, and then became Embassy 2/3/4 (Embassy 1 was on another site nearby). The Embassy 1,2,3 Theatre (renamed 1977 after the other Embassy had closed) was one of the last Times Square movie houses to close, which happened on December 31, 1998. After laying derelict, around 2007 it was gutted and converted into a Famous Dave’s BBQ Restaurant. This had closed by May 2013 and the building was demolished in Spring 2015.
