            The 330 seat Library Theatre auditorium is undoubtedly cramped, but over the years the Library Theatre Company delivered the most consistently good productions of, IMO, any theatre in the north.
Opened in 1933, a conversion of a lecture theatre in the 5 year old Library building by E Vincent Harris, the theatre was also designed by him. It seated just over 300 in a single raked tier, divided into three blocks. It became very successful but closed in the Summer of 2010 to move into a new larger base known as Home. The Library building is grade 2* listed.
