Red Coral Bead - a photo on Flickriver

Red Coral Bead

            Due to few broken bones in her one foot, my wife has been chair-bound for 5 weeks so far, so yesterday we packed the wheelchair in the car and went to the Pretoria Botanical Gardens where a lovely restaurant between the plants is also a good reason to visit.

Came across these Red Coral Bead Vine seeds still holding on to the pods.  This plant and seed is known by many names like: Abrus precatorius, bead vine, coral bead plant, coral bean, crabs eye, licorice vine, love bean, lucky bean creeper, prayer beads, prayer bean, precatory pea, red bead vine, rosary bean, rosary pea, weather plant, weather vine.
They are used for various decorative purposes, like bead strings. 

Afterwards I read that chewing one bead can be fatal to humans. Since I do not have the habit of chewing on unknown things in nature I'm able to tell this.
