When I went to shoot this one, I never guessed just how much history is in this building. Way too much to present here. But it shows as you look around the outside... That kind of character only comes from being added and altered over many years.

Built in 1880, it was originally the Balkan Inn and used as a "gathering spot for first generation Milwaukeeans of Eastern European descent" (UrbanMilwaukee,.com). It had many names and versions of bar/tavern over the years before settling in to a 20 year (to date) run as a gay bar. Rumor has it there is/was a tunnel between the basement and garage, so that supplies in, and beer out could be accomplished completely out of sight.
