Blooming plumeria in the seminary precinct

            I found a blooming branch of plumeria in the seminary precinct. It usually blooms in the rainy season.

Plumeria is the national flower of Laos and Nicaragua.
It is confirmed that the plant is native to tropical Americas. In spite of that, it is associated too deeply with the traditional cultures of Asia and Pacific islands.

It is known as a symbol of Hawaii and used for flower Leis. It has been planted in Hindu and Buddhist temples in South and Southeast Asia and called "temple flower."
Plumeria is called Champa in Laos, which is also the name of the seafaring Austronesian kingdom that existed in present-day southern Vietnam including Kon Tum.

It is reported that the Borobudur archaeological site  that was built in Indonesia in the 9th century has a stone panel that features plumeria flowers. Some people suspect that plumeria may have existed in Asia and Pacific islands as a result of trades between Americas and Pacific islands before Columbus arrived at West Indies.
I think the plant could be transported to Pacific islands also by birds and floating driftage.
